WATER PROOFING WATER TANKS/OVER HEAD TANKS

The leakage in the over head tank are caused by the cracks that may develop due to stress or internal water pressure (this could be due to more Hoop stress than it can withstand, also which could be due to ageing) etc.

Simple leakage can be arrested by treating the inside wall of the tank by using the Aquatyte (1:4) thin solution, thick solution and then by brushing the inner wall with the paint brush, specially taking care of the corners and around the pipes, then on the floor.

It should be understood that the structure should be strong enough (stable) to withstand by itself, then only the leakage can be arrested “In as is condition.”

Next day i.e. after 24 hours the tank can be used after cleaning. 

As normally all the over head tanks are constructed are RCC, well designed, simple treatment should stop the leakage.
