Water Proofing
To arrest leakage from roof, the age of building or the nature of roof doesn’t matter. The roof can be RCC, old Madras terrace, slab or anything and the weather proof course that already exists can be old surki (Bricks bats with lime mortar) cement mortar or old tiles for covering.
It is understood that the leakage is happening because of the defects inside the roof structure i.e. cracks/voids/micro cracks etc. The treatment is to seal the defects internally by using Aquatyte. The method of use can be seen from ‘USER GUIDE’. (Our web site)
The principle of treatment is, “No Breaking or alteration”, the treatment is done from the positive side i.e. where the water enters i.e. from top of the Roof.
It is important to observe the cracks in parapet, roof, wall joints & rain water pipes entry etc and attend all these areas to get best results.
If the whole roof is treated once, for all the leakages should stop permanently. If the leakage is observed after years, it could be due to weathering and then, only such isolated area can be treated again.
Any covering with tar felt, fiber glass etc, is preferred to be removed that may come out easily.
It is left to one’s judgment and belief to select the actions to be taken .What we suggest is, any kind of method one chooses should be the one which:
1) Causes least damage to the building.
2) Try to do a specific cure for leakage.
3) Internally seal the defects or cracks, voids, micro cracks.
4) Does not superficially cover the cracks on top only.
One can use Aquatyte for roof without breaking the existing profile in as is condition. The method adopted is supposed to be fool proof method. Here, water, we pour over the roof shall enter all the cracks, voids, fills up naturally without any one’s guidance. Aquatyte solution that we pour shall enter all the cracks and voids, sets, settles & crystallize inside the defects and seals the leakage. Curing for 2-3 days, shall make the treatment strong.
Since Aquatyte is water based, the work can be carried out during rainy season, even in pouring rain. Here it should be understood that even if the material we pour washes away during the rain, result is achieved because the material has already entered the cavities.
